Moi

Hi! I'd love to tell you a little bit more about myself.  I'm a classically trained soprano who has studied with some of the best - Jacqueline Martel-Cistellini, Lucille & Robert Evans, Helen Simmie, and James Norcop - just to name a few (most can be found in the Encyclopedia of Canadian History).  My family spared no expense when it came to proper instruction and the "grooming" of an opera singer in the making, and for that I am forever grateful!

When I was a girl, it was a big deal for me when I was brave enough to get conductor Boris Brott's autograph.  By the age of 12, I was on TV singing English art songs...I've been described more than once as a music nerd!

However, I love all kinds of music - which has caused me no end of grief in making musical career choices along the way!

I have dabbled in opera. Trained in it fiercely. Performed in a few. (I've been sighted singing "O, Mio Babbino Caro" on a city bus.) But I've also performed as Grace Slick, Shania Twain, back-up to 'Elvis Presley', country artists and the list goes on and on...I have even judged vocal festivals and competitions because (apparently) I know my 'stuff' when it comes to singing. :) And, I have been a soloist at more weddings, funerals, festivals and special events than I could count. I have one coming up this Saturday, in fact (I know this article has no date, but probably if a Saturday is coming up, I'll be singing!).

I get giddy when I listen to virtuoso opera singers like Beverly Sills and Joan Sutherland. And passionate French ones like Edith Piaf and Charles Aznavour. I hope to follow in their footsteps in even a small way by moving audiences to emotion and inspiring others to sing as well.

Nothing beats singing with a live orchestra though. More of those type of performances coming soon (on Dec.2nd at Milton Centre for the Performing Arts I'll be the soprano soloist in Handel's Messiah with the Milton Philharmonic).

Composing is second nature to me, which is my next passion after performing (cooking is a close third). I've written and co-written 2 original full-length musicals, and scored music to a third for an Ontario fringe festival. All things creative float my boat.

In 2016 I finally released a long-standing personal art project and full-length album, "13 Years in Space". (The track on this site is from that album). I would describe it as 'space pop' reminiscent of Madonna. You can buy it anywhere online. Proceeds will go towards fueling my next recording project and insatiable composing appetite. My next project and upcoming single "Don't Look Back" are much darker sounding which I am very excited about - stay tuned!
